The 6th Annual Can Do Art Sale
Raises nearly $8,000
Fifteen students from Irving Primary School proudly stood by their artwork, as community members purchased more than 30 pieces in East Peoria Thursday night, April 30. These Can Do artists were rewarded, as every piece of artwork sold, and nearly $8,000 was raised for the artistic studentsí Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund.
The Can Do 4:13 Scholarship Fund is dedicated to providing $1,000 scholarships to the 2002 through 2008 fourth grade classes at Peoria, IL's Irving Primary School when they enroll in an accredited post secondary education institution. The Can Do Kids total 375 students, now in 5th through 10th grade. Over $200,000 has been raised to fund the Can Do 4:13 Scholarship.
Can Do aspires to give these students hope, as well as the ability to truly see that the community cares about them. The Can Do studentsí goal is to graduate from high school, and utilize their $1,000 Can Do Scholarship. To help achieve this, a mentoring program was recently instituted with mentors meeting monthly with students.
